How to Relieve Built-Up Stress
It is known that crying is good for the soul. This means that when stress has built up in you, to a point that you feel like crying, then crying will relieve the stress. It is known that tears release an endorphine, enkephalin, that is a natural pain killer. Find a place to be alone and feel free enough to cry until there are no tears left. Some people feel that tears are a sign of weakness. This is not the truth. They help to heal the body when we release them. Your stress will be relieved when your body is healing.
Media Input to Relieve Stress
Laughter is a great healer. Laughing without caring about how long or how hard you laugh will help to ease built up stress. Watching comedies or comedy stations on the television helps to promote laughter and help you forget, for a moment, the reasons for your stress. Listening to comedians on cd’s or the radio will also help you to forget your reasons for stress. They may even help you to laugh at your reasons for stress if the comedies or comedians identify with your reasons, too. Comedies help us to laugh at the negativity in our lives.
Keeping a Diary to Relieve Built-up Stress
Keeping a diary about your life and the things that bother or delight you is a wonderful stress reliever. You can rant and rave and no one hears or reads your thoughts. You are allowed to yell at your boss or tell your wife, boyfriend, husband and children just what you are feeling without worrying about hurting anyone’s feelings. You can put on paper what you feel that you can’t say in person. Your paper is your friend. You can release feelings that you normally wouldn’t show and not have to worry about any consequences for releasing them. A diary is a form of stress relief that you can look forward to when you have built-up stress.
Taking a Warm Bath to Relieve Stress
Don’t take a hot bath, but rather take a warm bath. Soak in the water until you feel your body relax. Put oils or bubbles or nothing at all in the water. Just lie back and let your body go limp. In about half an hour or a little more, your body will start feeling relaxed and with that comes the relief of built-up stress. It will also help to heal some of the damage that the stress is causing to your joints and bones by warming them up. That also relieves some of the stress. A warm bath is cleansing and healing for your body and your built-up stress.
